| Information Service for Children with Disabilities and their Families The Information Service has been funded in a joint venture between North Surrey Group Scope, Kingston Council (Learning and Children’s Services), Kingston Hospital NHS Trust and the Kingston Primary Care Trust. Run by Caroline Baxter, the service will offer practical advice on a wide range of issues including education, social support and benefits for disabled children in the Royal Borough of Kingston upon Thames. The service is available to parents of children aged 0–19 years. The service aims to help parents with the vast range of issues that can occur at any time from diagnosis to transition to adult services. Caroline can also assist parents from neighbouring boroughs to access their own local services. Caroline is a local resident and the parent of a disabled child, she knows only too well the issues that can face families with children who have special needs. She has personal experience of using the services available both locally and nationally. The information service phone lines are available daily (Monday to Friday) between 9.30am – 12.30pm and on Monday evenings between 5 – 7pm, making it easier for working parents to get advice. Alternatively you can make an appointment to meet Caroline at the Information Service office which is based at the Maple Children’s Centre, Kingston Hospital. For more information contact Caroline Baxter on 020 8546 7711, ext. 6378 or email Caroline.Baxter@kingstonhospital.nhs.uk
