| Health Visitor Anne Boatman The role of the Paediatric Liaison Health Visitor is to both provide, and ensure that effective two-way communication occurs between hospital and community staff. This ensures that ba bies, children, young people, and their parents, receive appropriate continuing care and support. I have been in post since June 2004 with a background in both neonatal nursing and health visiting in the Kingston locality. My role takes me to the accident and emergency department, along with all paediatric areas, maternity and gynaecological departments. As well as attending the weekly ward round, I visit the neonatal unit at least twice a week to talk to both staff and parents as required. Following your baby’s admission to the neonatal unit your health visitor will be informed. Along with the neonatal staff, she/he will be able to offer extra support to both you and your family during this time, along with keeping updated with your baby’s progress. Your health visitor can also visit both you and your baby on the neonatal unit and will be informed prior to your baby’s discharge home. I am based in the hospital and can be contacted monday – friday on extension 3401 if you would like further information. |
